Jenna Carroll, daughter of back to back world champion surfer Tom Carroll, recently finished as a finalist in the McDonald’s Ballet Scholarship competition held at the Sydney Opera House. Jenna, 16, made it to the final four girls after a tough competition against 142 dancers from Australia and New Zealand.
Like her father, Jenna is a success in her own right and has been selected to train at the Elmhurst School for Dance, under the umbrella of the Royal Birmingham Ballet in England. Jenna’s MBTs are a vital tool for her training and looking after her whole body. As a ballerina Jenna tends to walk with her toes turned out as in ‘first position’. Wearing MBTs when not wearing her ballet shoes will help to correct this and strengthen her core leg muscles.
| Both Jenna and her father have been keen advocates of MBT shoes over the past few years. Throughout his career as a professional surfer Tom sustained injuries such as multiple ankle ligament tears and lower back strains and had numerous knee reconstructions. He appreciates that MBTs lower the stress on his injured joints.
“I am still very active and passionate about my surfing but sufferer of a totally worn out right knee. While being too young for a replacement. I have found my MBT’s invaluable for both challenging my hip and knee stabilisers while giving me the comfort of a smooth cushioned stride. I feel relieved. Thanks for the thoughtful design work MBT!!” |
